Training in Professional Development

On 13th and 20th of October the teachers of Bright Futures Preschool were trained in professional development.

Our thinking about teaching kids has been influenced over the years by the work of many educationalists, psychologists, researchers and practitioners, and much has been written about how young children learn and how adults can support this learning. The main emphasis is made on

“LEARNING THROUGH THE PLAY”.

Progression in play reflects the observation and assessment of children’s knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to provide developmentally appropriate experiences. Children come to pre-school already as skilled learners. Through our observations, assessment and professional judgment we gain valuable insights into how each one learns best. This information informs our planning to meet the needs of each individual child. Progression in play comes about as a result of a real understanding of the interests, needs and experiences of the child.

The themes discussed during the training supports the following areas of learning and development:

. Personal, Social and Emotional Development

. Communication and Language

. Physical Development

. Literacy

. Mathematics

. Understanding the World

. Expressive Arts and Design
